Apollo - The Sun God

Apollo is one of the most important and complex of the Olympian deities in Greek and Roman mythology. He has been variously recognized as a god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, healing, music, poetry, and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and has a twin sister, the chaste huntress Diana (Gr. Artemis). Apollo being the god of religious healing would give those guilty of murder and other immoral deeds a ritual purification. Sacred to Apollo are the swan, the wolf and the dolphin. His attributes are the bow and arrows, on his head a laurel crown, and the lyre and plectrum.
