Magical Uses: Use in protection sachets, place in pillow to aid falling asleep.  Add to love sachets.

Health: Internal: The tea can be taken for  calming effect, tense muscles, tension headache.  Drink 2-3 cups of tea when needed. (pour 1 cup boiling water over 2 tsp chopped herb, cover and steep for 20-30 minutes. Avoid if Pregnant.  External: for relaxing bath, pour 1 qt of boiling water over 1 oz of valerian root, bring to boil, cover, remove from heat and steep 60 min.  Strain and add tea to bath    

Caution is advised during the use of barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and other sedative drugs, as valerian has the potential to increase the effects of some sedatives.
